FAQ

Registration and Membership

Who can join Newmarket Road Runners?

Anyone with a desire to run either casually or more competitively can join the club. We cater to all levels and offer a variety of coaching options if you are looking to take your training to the next level.

Can I run with the club before joining to determine if it is a good fit?

Yes, your 1st drop-in run is complimentary. Feel free to contact one of our coaches if you would like to come out for a run.

Do I have to live in Newmarket to join?

No. If you are unable to participate in our local group runs, we have online training plans and coaching options available.

How do I sign up?

Please visit our Services page and select the appropriate blue button which will direct you to a specific page for each of our membership and training options. Click the “Buy Now” button at the bottom to purchase via PayPal.

What happens after I have paid?

Once you have completed the transaction using PayPal, you will be re-directed to a registration form to be completed with your personal information. After submitting the form, you will receive a welcome email outlining the next steps depending on the membership plan you have selected.

Training and Group Runs

When and where do group runs take place?

Weeknight runs will take place at set locations throughout Newmarket on Thursday at 6:30 PM. Sunday runs will start between 6:30 and 8:30 AM depending on weather conditions and distance. Long runs will take place in Newmarket and the surrounding area. We will occasionally offer routes in neighbouring towns such as Aurora, Sharon, Schomberg, Tottenham, etc. for a change of scenery.

Do group runs take place even in inclement weather?

Group runs will go on in almost all weather. We will only cancel a group run in the event of extreme conditions, in which case all members will be notified with as much notice as possible.

I’m a slow (or fast) runner. Can I still join the club?

Yes. Our running club and coaching program are suitable to runners at all levels. We will ensure that you have the support you need, whether you run at the back, middle or front of the pack.

I am already following a training program. Can I still join the club?

Absolutely. You can either join at the Social Membership level to participate in our group runs and continue following your own program, or our coaches can help you transition to one of our training programs.

How and when will my training plan be provided?

Cycle-based members will receive their training plans with the welcome email upon registration.

Custom plans will require 2-3 days from registration to prepare and will be provided by email.

Fully-coached clients will receive their training schedules one month at a time via Final Surge and will require 2-3 days from registration to prepare the first installment. Feedback on all workouts will also be provided via Final Surge.

Which coach will I be working with?

One of our coaches will be assigned to you based on compatibility and availability. Feel free to let us know if you have a preference.

Membership Commitment and Cancellation

Do you have minimum time commitments?

Social Membership is available month-to-month or with a one-year commitment which offers a cost savings equivalent to two free months. Cycle-based membership requires commitment and payment up-front for the duration of the 10 to 18 week cycle. All fully-coached training is on a month-to-month basis.

What is your cancellation policy?

Month-to-month social memberships and fully-coached memberships may be canceled at any time. One-year memberships may not be canceled during the commitment period. Cycle-based memberships may be canceled before the cycle begins, or deferred to the following cycle within the first two weeks of the program.
